Sunflowers Are Back!

leave a comment »

Sunflowers are everywhere in Texas.   This is one of the more expressive flowers and the challenge is to communicate the emotions of their many faces in new and unique ways.
Infrared photography  changes the ordinary into  something extraordinary. This also  gives us something new to do with our older digital cameras…. convert them to infrared.   Combine the infrared  images with a little Photoshop and explore the possibilities.

Swan Babies

A baby swan is called a cygnet (sig-net).  I just got around to posting images from earlier this spring.  These photos were taken at the  pond outside of  the Carrollton, Texas, Library on Keller Springs Road west of Josey Lane.

Osprey is an Endangered Bird

leave a comment »

The Osprey rules in Florida.

Boat Captains hope  this bird does not build its nest in the top of the mast.  If a nest if found,he boat must anchor and cannot move until the chicks hatch.
The Osprey are very territorial and their talons are sharp!

Butterfly Garden at Fair Park in Dallas

leave a comment »

When entering a manmade butterfly habitat, remember to bag your camera with plastic. Allow the camera to come to room temperature before removing the bag. Condensation cannot form in a vacuum. This will give you more shooting time because you are not waiting for the fog to clear from your lens and viewfinder.  Chasing butterflies with a tripod is a real challenge. Most of my successful photos are handheld at high ISO settings and shot at f-8 to give good depth of field so that both wings are in focus.

Award Winner!

Student Sarah Janes wins “Best of Show” award in her first Photo Contest at the Bob Jones Nature Center in Southlake. Competition was fierce and she still walked away with a handful of awards in several categories. She is very gifted with a good eye for composition and works hard all year  creating her entries.  ”Coyote Pretty” took Best of Show. She spent several days, shivering, out in that unusual snowstorm we had in Texas Last winter.

5out of 5

Pros: Easy To Apply, Covers Well, Goes On Smoothly, Blends Well

Best Uses: Primer, Age Spots, Broken Capillaries, Under Eyes, Discoloration

Describe Yourself: Brand Buyer

Skin Tone: Fair

Really makes eyes brighter. The white is a perfect primer base for my other eye shadows. It makes the shadow color more true. I am a make up artist and photographer. This product gives me a blank canvas to paint on when doing special effects.
